![]() ![]() ![]() as an example of these changes, as well as the importance of selecting the best tools. Steve Farentinos, Geoform’s President, cites his company’s work with Weber Metals Inc. With recent advances, it has become more important than ever to stop and consider which tools are the best for the job. I’m expecting this trend to continue since they are coming out with more tracker based scanning options so that’s been good.Īs a side note, I’ve also used Power Inspect to drive our Romer Arm a few times because of the Best Fit options, but I have no clue if it would drive a tracker.Over the years, Geoform has seen the tools, techniques, and approaches to quality control evolve. It seems like even hexagon knows that Polyworks just handles everything about pointcloud data better. I do have to say I feel like reports in dmis are much easier for me, and this is most of my reason for staying away from Polyworks.Īs of right now, PC-DMIS 2020r1 has started actually incorporating features for point clouds that are ripped straight out of Polyworks. ![]() Once I had that training though I could tell it’s something I’d really like if I could ever get the time to work with it more. Without the training I was lost as to where to find features and what features did certain things that I knew should be there but couldn’t just find. I like the features of Polyworks, and I think it’s extremely powerful compared to dmis, but it is something that has a much more menu in a menu feel. ![]() We did update our SMA for Polyworks and had training with it (we had a seat but I only used it for light RE stuff before this), but I’m much more comfortable and way faster with dmis at this point. We were already using PC-DMIS on the Romer for laser scanning so I’ve mostly stuck with that for use on the Leica also. So we have a Romer Arm and last year bought a Leica AT960 with the LAS and LAS XL. ![]()
